With Vangster, finding a job in the cannabis industry just got a little easier

We're often asked how to find a job in the cannabis industry.

Whereas in Europe, the easiest thing to do seems to be to contact the companies working in the field, A new job search platform has just been launched in the United States.

Le site Vangsters.com allows job seekers to apply for certain job vacancies and create their own profile, focusing on their cannabis skills.

«With 8 American states that have legalized recreational cannabis, and 20 others authorizing medical use, it is clear that the sector is set for growth. And with this growth potential, many workers [...] might consider joining a booming industry, offering many career opportunities.».

At present, more than 120,000 people work in the legal cannabis industry in the United States. According to the latest‘Arcview Market Research, direct and indirect jobs in medical and recreational cannabis could reach 400,000 by 2021. But for now, jobs are hard to come by.

«There are more people interested in working in this industry than there are jobs,» explains Karson Humiston, CEO of the Vangst agency, which created Vangsters. Some 5,500 people have created profiles since the site opened in January.

The cannabis industry can be broken down into a few main sectors: cultivation, sales, infused products and ancillary services (software development, security services, etc.).

Then there are specific jobs. In the example of infused products, the kitchen laboratory will need scientists and technicians to develop the products and extractions, or a taster to test the products and ensure their quality.

And most companies need accountants, sales people or engineers.

On the Vangster platform, candidates can apply for a wide range of positions, including cannabis-related professions :

• extraction technician
• budtender (the dispensary equivalent of a bartender)
• cultivation partner
• plant manager
• retail positions

Like all fast-growing businesses, the need for skilled people is very great. American industry has reached a pivotal point where the market emerges from prohibition to become the country's next biggest industry. And be way ahead of its neighbors.
