Malaysia: an Australian company invests in medical cannabis
The Australian company Roto-Gro International, owner of a system of hydroponic cultivation for the food and cannabis industries, has announced signed a memorandum of understanding with Malaysian company Rotary Garden Systems to produce medical cannabis in Malaysia and Thailand.
The two companies will initially seek to obtain a license from the Thai and Malaysian governments to grow, process, sell and export cannabis.
Roto-Gro also has one foot in Canada after having bought the Supra THC license, with the intention of building a 4,000m² cannabis production plant.

An air of change in Malaysia
Malaysia, like Thailand, is not soft on drug users. And while the country recently annulled the death penalty for cannabis-related crimes, and communicated his intention to decriminalize drugs like Portugal, it could also follow its Thai neighbor in the field of medical cannabis.
Last February, the director of the local anti-drug agency had in fact announced that the cultivation of medical cannabis was perfectly feasible in Malaysia, provided that it had been approved by the Ministry of Health.
The Selangor state government then planned medical cannabis cultivation in the state, seeing it as a non-negligible source of revenue compared to the country's main crop, palm oil, and a source of employment. To our knowledge, however, no projects have yet been set up.
