The singer is in Cannes for the 69th edition of the Festival and to promote «Gimme Danger,» a documentary about his punk band, the Stooges. During an interview, the Iguana said that red wine had become his drug of choice.
«Everyone should just let this go,» he told the crowd at the festival on Thursday.
«I don't do drugs anymore,» the singer of «Lust for Life» admitted during a press conference. «I don't do it anymore. I drink red wine with dinner, and that's it.» He added that the marijuana was «OK for most people.».
Based on the musician's life story, «Gimme Danger» features archival footage of a young Iggy Pop who was often on LSD.
«I was on acid in most of the music videos when I was young,» he said. «I’d go from acting really aggressively for five seconds to bursting out laughing.».
