The Plug Westerdok
The Plug Westerdok coffeeshop is located at Barentszstraat 130 in the Zeeheldenbuurt district of Amsterdam-West. It occupies the premises of the former Baba coffeeshop, an address that had long been a reference in this part of town before joining The Plug chain in 2024.
The Westerdok is perhaps the most unusual address in The Plug network. The Zeeheldenbuurt district, whose streets bear the names of Dutch navigators and explorers, is a quiet residential area steeped in maritime history, a stone's throw from the Westerdok and its houseboats moored along the IJ. It's a far cry from the hustle and bustle of the city center, and even further from the usual tourist circuits.
The interior is clean and comfortable, with a separate smoking area at the back, vaporizers on the tables and hot drinks at the counter, so you can settle in and take your time. The atmosphere is particularly calm and local, ideal for those looking to unwind away from the crowded coffeeshops of the Centrum.
The menu follows the chain's standards: a careful selection of flowers and resins, regularly renewed. Staff are described as welcoming and available to help customers make their choices.
Plug Westerdok is open daily from 9am to midnight. The neighborhood is within easy cycling distance of the center, and just a few minutes' walk from Westerpark and Spaarndammerbuurt, famous for its Amsterdam School architecture.
