Cannabis Europa Paris and London pave the way for the development of Europe's therapeutic cannabis industry
By George McBride, CEO of Hanway Associates.
Cannabis Europa's inaugural conference brought together over 500 speakers and participants from all over the world to support the development of Europe's young therapeutic cannabis industry.
Hanway Associates and Prohibition Partners are pleased to announce Cannabis Europa Paris, which will take place on February 8, 2019, and Cannabis Europa London, which will be held on June 24 and 25, 2019.
Europe is destined to become the the world's largest cannabis market. It is estimated that the therapeutic cannabis market in Europe alone will reach a value of 55 billion euros by 2028. Comprising over 50 countries of varying sizes and political climates, the European market is far more complex than any other therapeutic cannabis market.
On February 8, 2019, Cannabis Europa Paris will bring together world leaders in therapeutic cannabis, European policymakers, patients and researchers to support the development of a responsible and accessible therapeutic cannabis industry. Cannabis Europa Paris will take place at the Maison de la Chimie, home to the prestigious Fondation de la Chimie.
The Paris conference aims to provide concrete solutions to the problems facing the industry. It focuses on three themes: French-speaking markets, European leadership in public policy development, and exploring the gap between the therapeutic cannabis and pharmaceutical industries. Cannabis Europa Paris will provide pragmatic answers to the obstacles hindering the adoption of therapeutic cannabis in Europe, examine the particular role that the’pharmaceutical industry in the European medical cannabis industry, and to analyze the regulatory processes in Europe.
Cannabis Europa also returns to London next year, this time for two days on June 24 and 25. Cannabis Europa London aims to offer privileged access to the most influential, innovative and visionary industry figures from around the world.
Cannabis Europa London is not a trade show, but the place to meet visionary leaders, facilitate knowledge sharing, exchange best practices and support the development of the therapeutic cannabis industry in Europe. Patient access to medical cannabis still presents many obstacles in European countries, far more so than in North America, but regulations and political opinion are moving forward far more quickly than anyone could have imagined.
Just 5 months after our first conference in London, the island of Malta launches sales of medical cannabis, the UK reclassifies cannabis-based medicines, the German government launched its tender for the cultivation of medical cannabis, and the France has set up a special commission designed to analyze the plant's medical applications.
This is a historic moment for medical cannabis in Europe - not just for the industry, but for the millions of citizens waiting to gain access to safe, regulated and tested cannabis.
I hope you'll join us in Paris and London in 2019 to experience this moment with us.
