Bulldog tears Red Bull apart in trial
After a long legal battle between energy drink brand Red Bull and Dutch coffeeshop The Bulldog, the Amsterdam court ruled in favor of the latter, reports Cannabisindustrie. The court ruled that Red Bull had acted unlawfully towards The Bulldog in their long-running battle over energy drinks.
The dispute between the two parties concerned The Bulldog's ban on marketing energy drinks under its own name, due to the similarity of the brand names.
The Bulldog, represented by Henk de Vries, has claimed 49 million euros in lost earnings from Red Bull.
Amsterdam court finds Red Bull liable and vindicates The Bulldog
The court found in favor of The Bulldog and ruled that Red Bull was fully liable for the damages caused by the interference with The Bulldog Energy Drink's operations.
Although the amount of damages has not yet been set, The Bulldog's lawyer is delighted with this decision and confidently awaits the determination of the amount of damages.
49 million euros for Henk de Vries?
It is not yet known whether De Vries, and The Bulldog may indeed be awarded 49 million euros by Red Bull. The court will need more time to determine the extent of the damages.
Meanwhile, Henk de Vries' lawyer and The Bulldog have expressed their satisfaction with the ruling.

There is an error, »since it is not yet known whether De Vries, and The Bulldog can indeed be claimed by Red Bull for the sum of 49 million euros. The court will need more time to determine the extent of the damages.» Wouldn't it rather be Red Bull who could be awarded 49 million euros?
