Ängie, the Swedish girl who breaks the rules
Ängie. The name may not ring a bell, but with just one track to her name, this Swedish singer-songwriter is shaking up the codes of feminism.
I have Fun and I feel no shame
In «Smoke Weed Eat Pussy», the singer tackles 2 controversial subjects in Sweden. In this country with high moral standards, smoking Cannabis and exposing yourself publicly as a lesbian can incur the wrath of public opinion, and even the courts.
Her sound is a kind of Drum-bass Trap, which makes the speakers vibrate right from the start. The omnipresence of weed in a singer is rare enough to be highlighted. And the lady loves quality weed, as she expresses in her first lyrics. If the diversity of the lyrics leaves something to be desired, this sound could easily be played on some of our country's hip-hop radio stations.
On this track, Ängie claims to be inspired by Lana Del Rey and Tyler The Creator, while paying tribute to her idol Eminem, «I hit the Blunt like I'm Slim Shady, cause I'm mother -fucking lady». In ASBO magazine, she declares that the song was made as a way of letting off steam after a break-up. «It feels good to let go of everything».
The lady describes herself as an annoying slacker, but who after a few joints and a couple of shots can radically change. She also says she draws her inspiration from lighting up a little green treat in the morning. The creation of the track is due to her meeting with one of the members of the Swedish label Death team in Amsterdam.
The stage is set. It remains to be seen whether the singer will be able to assert herself in this explosive style. For the moment, the artist who topped the Spotify charts at the beginning of August has yet to release another track.
