Rihanna named «Humanitarian of the Year»
Rihanna has been named «Humanitarian of the Year» by Harvard University, and will receive her award on February 28 on the university campus at 4:00 p.m. (with a 20-minute delay? 🙂 ).
«Rihanna has generously built a state-of-the-art oncology and nuclear medicine center to diagnose and treat breast cancer at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Bridgetown, Barbados,» explains Allen Counter, director of the Harvard Foundation.
«In 2012, she founded the organization Clara Lionel Foundation Global Scholarship Program (named after her grandparents) for American high school students from Caribbean countries, and supports the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen Project, which provides children with access to education in more than 60 developing countries, with a focus on girls and those affected by the lack of education in the world today.»
The star of the Barbados, who is open about his cannabis use and supports legalization, has won 8 Grammy Awards and sold more than 200 million songs over the course of his career. Now, his humanitarian efforts are also being recognized.
