Is Rihanna launching her own cannabis brand, MaRihanna?
Update as of November 22: Rihanna's agency confirms our suspicions: Rihanna doesn't launch her cannabis brand. She wasn't even at the Jamaican Cannabis Cup, and launching a cannabis brand under her name isn't part of her plans. Exclusive information; may not be reproduced without crediting Newsweed.
Fact or fiction? Rihanna is reportedly launching her own cannabis brand, MaRihanna. This announcement, which was reportedly made during the Jamaican Cannabis Cup held November 12–15 in Negril, was first reported on 18karatreggae and then picked up by the celebrity news site CelebStoner.
MaRihanna would therefore be a new celebrity-backed cannabis product line, featuring a hybrid strain of Karibbean Kush, Haitian Haze, and Jamaican High Grade—apparently Rihanna’s favorite strains. The product line is expected to go on sale in the first quarter of 2016 in Alaska, Oregon, Washington, and Colorado.
Why do we want to believe it? Because Tommy Chong already has its own brand of cannabis and smoking accessories, which Snoop Dogg just launched Leafs, his cannabis and space food brand, and that Willie Nelson, an 81-year-old American singer and cannabis activist, will soon launch his own cannabis brand, Willie’s Reserve.
Why wouldn't we believe it? Because the announcement still hasn't been officially confirmed by Rihanna, despite our requests 🙂 The marihanna.com domain is parked and still available for 10 000$, and the @marihanna Twitter account hasn’t posted a single tweet since it was created in April 2009.
Credibility Index: 4/10. Rihanna has never hidden her love for weed, but this is either an unexpected leak from her PR team or a fake posted by 18karatreggae. We’ll let you know as soon as she gets back to us!
