Raw Biotech expands in Italy

Raw Biotech Plc announced this week that it is expanding its hemp cultivation for the production and processing of medical CBD cannabis, as part of its strategic growth program in Europe.

Italy is the world's fifth-largest exporter of agri-food products, thanks to its fertile soil, favorable growing conditions and Mediterranean climate, which is ideal for growing hemp. Some of the world's best-known products come from Italy: wine, olive oil, fruit and wheat.

Historically, Italy was the second-largest hemp grower until the early 1960s, when international law, lacking the scientific knowledge we have, banned its cultivation. Since its legalization and reintroduction in 2016 for the cultivation of species containing less than 0.3% THC, Italy intends to quickly regain its title, and the quality of CBD-finished products there is literally the best in the world. This is due to a strong agricultural policy of biologically certified organic soils, developed for the Italian wine and olive oil industries and hard to match in other EU countries today.

In fact, like fine wine and olive oil, for which Italy is renowned the world over, the final quality of CBD is directly linked to soil, breeding, climate and management. Italy is already a world leader in terms of quality, practical and scientific expertise and analysis, thanks to the work of the country's top universities, including the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Milan.

At the helm of RAW Biotech, South African entrepreneur Kevin Du Plessis is joined by his team of scientists, farmers, skincare, health, marketing and healthcare specialists. Over the past 18 months, the team has developed CBD oil production facilities and a myriad of derivative products based on private investment.

The company is currently planning rapid expansion thanks to its operational performance in southern Italy and its certified «oil» seed production program, verified by its own blockchain, already bringing top-quality oils to market.

Italian company RAW Biotech recently began acquiring land with the aim of cultivating 500 hectares of fields and greenhouse crops by mid-2020, supported by extraction and processing plants representing a planned investment of 20 million euros in the CBD's new economy.
