Bruce Linton launches cannabis investment fund in Europe
Bruce Linton, former CEO and founder of Canopy Growth, is launching OSKARE CAPITAL, an investment fund specializing in innovative European companies in the medical cannabinoid industry.
The Europe-based fund will target companies developing next-generation cannabinoid-based therapies or related industrial infrastructure. The fund draws on the founding team’s expertise and experience in medicine, engineering, chemistry, venture capital, and intellectual property.
«Since joining the ÓSKARE CAPITAL team, these past nine months have convinced me that Europe offers an optimal regulatory and research environment for building the future key players in the'global medical cannabinoid industry,» said Bruce Linton, co-founder and non-executive chairman of ÓSKARE CAPITAL, in a press release.
«ÓSKARE CAPITAL’s goal is to capitalize on the management team’s proprietary deal flow and to leverage its pharmaceutical and industrial expertise, as well as its academic connections, to provide seed capital to companies that will shape the future of this industry and the fund’s success.”.
The fund will invest in a diversified portfolio of companies developing disruptive technologies with high barriers to entry. The team is supported by by a highly qualified senior advisory board that provides additional expertise and expands its network of influence.
The ÓSKARE CAPITAL team has access to leading research teams and companies that have identified new cannabinoid molecules and formulations with therapeutic potential for medical conditions such as anxiety and depression, cancer, autism, ADHD, cardiovascular and inflammatory skin conditions, among others. The fund will invest across the entire value chain and seek to utilize hemp and cannabis biomass for new applications in sustainable materials.
The team has already made its first investment in Octarine Bio in Denmark.
