Leafter: the hemp milk drink made in France
Hemp, a plant with many beneficial qualities, is not only environmentally friendly to produce but also beneficial to consume. In this era of the environmental revolution, consumers are increasingly turning to local, organic, and eco-friendly products. It is precisely these kinds of products—made from hemp—that the brand offers Leafter.
A little drink with big ambitions
Leafter is a company founded in July 2018 by Matthieu Moret, an entrepreneur from Pontoise. Its goal: to reintroduce hemp into the diet. To that end, he created a plant-based, gluten-free milk drink called 100%, made from organic hemp seeds, known for their many nutritional benefits, and enriched with CBD (10 mg), known for its soothing properties. The product comes in a small 250-ml bottle. Ideal for breakfast or a snack, this drink can be enjoyed hot or cold and has a nutty, cereal-like flavor.
The hemp used in its production is certified to contain 0.2% of THC in accordance with European standards. The ingredients (hemp oil, hemp seeds, sunflower lecithin, arrowroot) are sourced from organic and/or French farms, which has earned the brand the «Made in France» label and will allow it to qualify for the AB organic label once the necessary funds have been raised. In fact, Matthieu’s project is currently in the pilot phase and needs support.
Production of this beverage is currently on a small scale. Matthieu has big plans, and a laboratory is under construction to standardize the product in order to extend its shelf life and, eventually, create a job. To do this, Matthieu needs donations. A crowdfunding campaign has been launched for this purpose on the Tudigo platform. The campaign is based on the principle of “donation for donation”: a financial contribution results in a reward.
The funds raised will also be used to replace recyclable PET bottles with glass bottles, which result in an even smaller carbon footprint. The philosophy of Leafter is to prioritize solutions that are not only environmentally friendly but also equitable, using short supply chains from production to distribution—which sometimes takes place through local community-supported agriculture (CSA) programs. Leafter also plans to expand and thrive in France, and to do that, a little help would be welcome!
The crowdfunding is open until June 23, 2019, and you can Find it here.
