Mike Tyson is building a luxurious relaxation complex around cannabis
Convinced of the health and wellness benefits of cannabis, legendary boxer Mike Tyson entered the cannabis industry three years ago through his investment company Tyson Holistic Holdings. His portfolio includes several cannabis brands and CBD companies, but his latest project is a 164-hectare ranch dedicated to cannabis in the California desert: Tyson Ranch.
Cannabis-Induced Delusions of Grandeur
«I thought about all the good we could do to help people with cannabis. It was obvious,» explains Tyson, who uses cannabis to relieve his pain. «I fought for over 20 years, and my body has been badly worn down. I’ve had two surgeries, and I use cannabis to calm my nerves and ease the pain… Before that, [the doctors] had put me on opioids, and that really messed me up.».
The project is massive. On these 164 hectares of land located in a desert in Southern California, Mike Tyson plans to build a luxury resort for wealthy vacationers who enjoy cannabis. It will include a hotel and a glamping site (a portmanteau of “glamour” and “camping”). It will also feature the world’s longest floating river—it will take over an hour to travel the entire length of the resort. Tyson’s grandiosity doesn’t stop there, as the ranch will also host tourist attractions, as well as live music venues and festivals (one festival, the “Cannabis Lollapalooza,” was already held on the grounds in February).
In addition to entertainment facilities, the ranch will also house a research center with laboratories and production facilities edibles and a university to train future growers cannabis. Although the resort is entirely focused on cannabis, Tyson has not (yet) obtained permission to sell it on the premises. Vacationers will have to purchase their cannabis at nearby dispensaries.
The opening date for this cannabis-based wellness and relaxation complex has not yet been announced, but you can follow updates via the Tyson Ranch Instagram account.
