Joe Exotic launches cannabis brand from prison

Joe Exotic, whose life was chronicled in the Netflix documentary «In the Kingdom of the Wild Beasts» (Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness), plans to launch its own brand of cannabis, Joe Exotic Cannabis, in partnership with two companies.

Joe Exotic apparently worked on the project from prison, where he's serving a 22-year federal sentence for plotting the murder of his rival in a tiger-saving business, Carole Baskin.

According to from TMZ, the Joe Exotic product line will include edibles and will be rolled out in California, Colorado and Oklahoma, Exotic's former home state. His lawyer, Brad Small, told TMZ that he expects the launch to take place in a few weeks. Part of the proceeds from the line will be donated to the protection of tigers in captivity.

Last May, Joe Exotic launched a brand clothing with the Odaingerous brand, which, according to TMZ, sold out in minutes and earned over 20,000 $.

Exotic had sought a pardon from former President Donald Trump but was not included in the outgoing president's final list. In April 2019, he was also convicted of killing five tigers, selling tiger cubs and falsifying wildlife records.

Exotic maintained his innocence in the murder plot, and his lawyers argued in his pardon application that he had been «thrown on the rails and betrayed» by others, leading to his conviction. He is due to be released in 2037.
