Hello Joya: hemp-based products for everyday use
What if hemp were to find its way back into the daily diet? That's the gamble taken by Hello Joya, a young company dedicated to (re)discovering the forgotten benefits of hemp.
Focused on well-being and sport, their product range comes in several forms:
- energy bars
- hemp proteins
- hemp pasta, plus wheat or buckwheat
- infusion: hemp, lemon balm, lime blossom, marjoram, lemon verbena, matricaria, fennel, lavender
Beautiful products, a modern vision of hemp and a dynamic team. That's all it took for us to interview them.
NWD: Why go hemp in 2018?
Aurélien Delecroix: In 2018, more than perhaps ever before, hemp is THE plant that can solve the challenges we face.
At Hello Joya, we're used to saying «hemp, the future of our planet and our well-being».
At a time when many of us are becoming aware of the importance of living up to our values in our professional lives, hemp enables us to develop a business that respects producers, consumers and our planet.
NWD: Is hemp the future of mankind?
Aurélien Delecroix: Without a doubt.
Hemp being THE ecological plant par excellence, it would enable the widespread use of clean agriculture, without pesticides or phytosanitary products of any kind.
Its numerous outlets, all eco-responsible, would happily replace a number of materials that have an impact on the environment in many fields: construction, energy, textiles and, of course, food and well-being.
Plastic, cinder blocks, fiberglass, paper, fuel, synthetic fibers, cotton and animal proteins can all be replaced by hemp products.
With our Hello Joya brand, we offer an answer to those who want to reduce or eliminate their reliance on animal proteins and increase their consumption of plant-based proteins.
Reducing your meat consumption also means doing something for the planet, as animal farming is a major source of CO2 emissions.
Last but not least, hemp is a solution for those who want to feel good with natural products: our infusions are there to give you energy or to relax you!
NWD: What does France need to defend its hemp industry?
Aurélien Delecroix: Today, France needs to diversify its hemp industry. France, the world's 2nd largest producer of hemp, has focused for the past 50 years on outlets linked to eco-construction.
Today, we need to develop hemp seed processing and innovate with food products.
We also need to remove the constraints associated with using the flower. Hemp flower has many wellness benefits that can be made accessible to the greatest number of people.
50 years ago, France chose to continue growing hemp, even though the United States was banning the plant. Today, we're lagging behind our neighbors, which is a shame, isn't it?
So let's take up George Washington's adage: «Make the most of Indian hemp seeds and sow them everywhere.»
