France Botanique Services registers two feminized hemp varieties in French and European catalogs
The company France Botanique Services (FBS) has announced the registration of two feminized varieties of Cannabis sativa L on the A list of French and European seed catalog, an approach presented as a first on a European scale.
In a communication published on LinkedIn, FBS points out that the European catalog has long been criticized by hemp flower growers as insufficiently adapted to market requirements in terms of genetic quality and agronomic needs. The company says it wants to meet these expectations by helping to structure a more autonomous seed industry.
Three years' work to get into the official catalog
This project is the the result of three years' work, The company explains that it intends to launch its first registrations on a self-financed basis. The company explains that it plans to launch its first self-financed registrations in 2023-2024, following a project to co-construct technical reference systems with the GEVES (Groupe d'Étude et de Contrôle des Variétés Et des Semences).
FBS also states that it has obtained the necessary approvals to provide the selection, the production and the multiplication of varieties intended for distribution, paving the way for a lengthy process involving several stages: selection, registration, approval, multiplication, certification and marketing.
The company insists on the strategic importance of this official recognition, believing that it could enable European producers to differentiate themselves further through genetics.
«A first in Europe! After 3 years of hard work, twists and turns and uncertainty, we can officially announce that 2 feminized cannabis sativa L varieties have been registered in List A of the French and European catalogs!», announces FBS.
Revelation and Seraly 25: two CBD- and CBG-oriented genetics
The two varieties concerned are Revelation and Seraly 25 (Serenity CBG). They have been available for sale since end March 2026.
The variety Revelation is presented as a genetic Photoperiodic CBD with a THC less than 0.3%, compliant with the European regulatory framework. Developed in partnership with Davis Farm Oregon, It is described as robust, productive and particularly tolerant to powdery mildew and botrytis. Its aromatic profile is described as earthy, with notes of menthol and basil. Flower yields are estimated at between 2000 and 2500 kg/hectare, with a rate of CBD between 7% and 10%.
For its part, the Seraly 25 (Serenity CBG) is a photoperiodic feminized variety focused on the CBG, announced at 15%, with a rate of THC less than 0.2%. It has been developed in partnership with Phytonix USA. FBS highlights its earliness, designed to limit cryptogamic risks at the end of flowering, as well as a terpene profile geared towards citrus fruit. The yields announced are similar to those of Revelation, around 2000 to 2500 kg/hectare.
A strong signal for European seed sovereignty
Over and above its technical features, this inclusion in the catalog above all represents a signal for the industry: that of a possible shift towards feminized certified seeds adapted to cannabinoid-rich flower markets.
In a context where the structuring of the European hemp industry remains marked by administrative constraints and strong international competition, FBS hopes to open up a new dynamic. In fact, the company claims that this success is not limited to itself.
«🧑🌾Cette is also the success story of an entire industry that has been waiting since the very beginning to be able to officially develop and stand out through genetics!»
