How do you make an apple pipe?

Apple pipes are considered one of the healthiest options when it comes to DIY smoking devices, especially when compared to building pipes out of aluminum foil or soda cans.
Discreet and inexpensive, the apple pipe is a favorite of consumers who don't have paper or glass pipes on hand, who want to get rid of smoking evidence easily, or who don't want to bother cleaning a traditional device. Read on to learn how to make your own apple pipe.
How do you make an apple pipe?
Making an apple pipe may seem complex, but with a few simple steps, you'll soon be able to satisfy your craving for your favorite fruit. Here's what you'll need to make and use a classic apple pipe:
- an apple
- a toothpick
- a clean screwdriver or pen
Steps
1. Remove the stem from the apple, taking care to remove it all the way to the base. This cut in the apple will serve as your bowl.
2. Use a clean screwdriver or pen to drill a hole in the center of the apple. One of the holes will serve as a base for your mouthpiece, while the other will act as an air vent.
3. Use your toothpick to poke a few holes in the top of the apple, enough to intersect the hole you've just made in the center of the apple. This will allow air to circulate from the bowl to the mouthpiece without the flower falling through.
4. Try it out and breathe in through the hole you've chosen as your mouthpiece to make sure the air can circulate properly.
5. Fill the top of the apple with whatever you like.
6. Place your mouth over the hole you've chosen to be your mouthpiece, and cover the other hole with your free hand while you light the bowl.
7. Inhale and enjoy.
Why make an apple pipe?
Apple pipes are renowned for their discretion and ease of disposal. Apples are also incredibly inexpensive and make a good substitute when traditional fittings aren't available or accessible. You also won't have to worry about cleaning your pipe after use. Finally, you can theoretically eat the apple once you've finished, but we don't recommend it. Works with a burr too!
