Rapper Action Bronson arrested in Kosovo for lighting a joint on stage
The US rapper was invited to the festival Sunny Hill, Kosovo's biggest festival, held this weekend in the national park of the country's capital, Pristina. As usual, before performing the song Terry, he lit a small (large) green joint, which he then shared with his fans in the audience. This was without taking into account Kosovar laws strictly forbidding the possession and consumption of cannabis, which earned him a visit from the police in his dressing room.
While in the USA, cannabis artists benefit from a policy of tolerance, this immunity does not apply everywhere, and apparently not in Kosovo. Arrested and placed in police custody, he was released shortly afterwards, but it is not yet known what the terms of his release were, or whether he will face any charges or prosecution. A police spokesman said he had been ordered to release the rapper, but gave no further details.
A fervent advocate of cannabis
Originally from New York, the rapper with a strong character is notably known as a fervent advocate of cannabis. He takes part as a speaker in conferences on the subject and is very involved in the milieu. He is remembered in particular for his questioning of «Manu Macron» in a video to ask him to stop the hypocrisy of prohibition.
He is also known for his colossal consumption, which he justifies by stimulating his creativity: «Cannabis helps. It enhances everything by adding imagination to life, art and creation». He admits, however, that he lacked creativity when it came to trimming his famous red beard under the influence of cannabis: «I ended up looking like Hulk Hogan. A disaster,» he admits.
His inordinate consumption of cannabis nonetheless earned him some reviews within the Vice HBO where he produced the show Fuck, That's Delicious. Office staff described it as out of control: «He smokes weed all the time, the whole building reeks of it when he's around.
The rapper is due to perform in Landerneau in Brittany next weekend as part of his European tour. We look forward to the reaction of the French police!
