Woody Harrelson quits weed
Actor Woody Harrelson declares in the magazine Vulture that he stopped smoking weed over a year ago. The reason was the lack of euphoria after cannabis consumption.
During an interview to promote the film Wilson, in which he plays the main character, the journalist asked him: «What false image do people have of you? He replies, »People think I'm a big party animal, but I'm not really. I'm more moderate now, and I even stopped smoking weed a year ago. »I've been going hard for 30 years, but the effect didn't suit me anymore.»
Sentimentally unavailable
Even though temptation is all around him, he confides that he has never cracked since he stopped using: «Last night, someone rolled a nice joint, I love it when it's well rolled, I could have said «Have a go», but what's the point? but what's the point? I might as well smoke like I used to, straight away.»
He continues, «I have no problem with smoking, I think it's a good drug... even the cops know that the effect of cannabis is euphoria. But when you smoke all the time, it's like you become a sentimental rock, like I'm sentimentally unavailable.»
He still declares moderate alcohol consumption. In passing, we learn that journalist Abraham Riesman is also trying to quit smoking, as it makes him unproductive.
Woody Harrelson is one of the Hollywood stars most committed to the legalization of cannabis. He was a member of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML) and was arrested in 1996 for planting hemp seeds in Kentucky. He also applied to open a cannabis dispensary in Hawaii in February 2016, but the Hawaii Department of Health did not accept his application.
