The «world's most expensive joint» sold for 4000$ at auction
The self-proclaimed «world’s most expensive joint» was sold at auction last week in Los Angeles for 4000$. Created by the famous artist Weaver, which specializes in making custom joints, the massive spliff contained more than 500 grams of cannabis flowers, 50 grams of bubble hash and 170 grams of concentrates, all wrapped in 24K gold foil over 80 centimeters long.
The seal, shaped like an elephant's tusk, was, however, being sold for a good cause: the conservation of elephants in Africa, which is at the heart of the’African Wildlife Foundation.
«Elephants are being slaughtered at a rate never seen before,» explains Lex Corwin, founder of Stone Road Farms, the company that organized the auction. «Our generation could quite simply wipe out the most majestic land animal on Earth—and for all future generations.»
According to the’African Wildlife Foundation, the greatest threat to African wildlife remains humans. Elephants and rhinos are the species most at risk due to the astronomical prices their tusks fetch on the black market. Big cats and primates are also threatened.
«It’s not just irresponsible,» Corwin said. «It’s criminal. And preventable. We’re partnering with nonprofit organizations and sanctuaries on the ground to help combat poaching.»
And if a huge joint shaped like a tusk can help raise awareness and fund the conservation of endangered animals, who are we to judge? 🙂
