Bud and Breakfast: the Airbnb of cannabis
What if it were easy to combine travel with the discovery of local (cannabic) curiosities? That's exactly what BudAndBreakfast, the Airbnb of cannabis (not to be confused with Bud+Breakfast, a chain of cannabis-friendly guest houses).
The site, which describes itself as bringing together the «world's largest collection of cannabis-friendly hotels and rentals», started out in Colorado, Washington and California, but now includes accommodations in Europe (not yet hyper-developed), the Caribbean and South America.
For Sean Roby, creator of budandbreakfast.com, The main aim of the site is to help tourists find a safe place to smoke their legal cannabis, without risking any trouble. Some American states where cannabis is legal, for example, do not allow cannabis consumption in public. Lounges where cannabis is allowed can also be counted on the fingers of one hand, which generally leaves tourists with nowhere to consume the cannabis they've legally purchased in a dispensary.
«A lot of people come to Colorado, go to a dispensary, buy some weed and go out and smoke it on the street,» Sean Roby explained to The Guardian. «It's not legal. We want to offer safe, legal accommodation so people have an alternative.»
In terms of logistics, budandbreakfast.com works much like Airbnb. Like the online welcome service, it allows owners to rent out their own accommodation. According to the site, this essentially means «guaranteeing a unique personalized experience».
«Each of the 420-friendly rentals has its own rules, so be careful,» warns the site.
American hotels have recently begun to list CBD-infused dishes to their menu. New customers for Bud And Breakfast?
