Spannabis 2026 (Bilbao) is just one month away!

After more than two decades in Catalonia, the Spannabis, the largest cannabis fair in Europe,will be held from April 17 to 19, 2026 at the Bilbao Exhibition Center (BEC).

Since its launch in 2002, the fair has established itself as an essential meeting place for professionals, activists, companies and enthusiasts.

Bilbao, a strategic choice for a fast-growing industry

The (forced) move to Bilbao is not just a question of logistics. The Basque city hopes to give the event a new dimension. Covering over 150,000 square meters, the site is designed to host major international gatherings.

And the Spannabis continues to adopt a hybrid format. The exhibition space will showcase innovations from the’cannabis industry, while the World Cannabis Conference, will bring together leading experts in the fields of science, medicine and public policy.

This conference has become a benchmark for discussions on regulation, research and public health. In 2026, it is expected to address ongoing transformations in European regulatory frameworks, as well as international experiences that influence policy-making.

Another highlight will be the Spannabis Champions Cup, one of the most prestigious competitions in the industry. Scheduled for April 17, the awards ceremony will once again recognize excellence in various categories, judged by a VIP jury.

Focus on Spain's changing regulatory landscape

The 2026 edition takes place against a backdrop of major regulatory developments in Spain. The adoption of the royal decree 903/2025 has set up a framework for the medical marijuana, authorizing hospital prescriptions under specialized supervision.

At the same time, the authorities hinted at potential adjustments to distribution rules, which could widen patient access beyond hospitals. These discussions place Spain within a wider European and global debate on how to effectively regulate cannabis.

International examples, particularly in North America, continue to fuel these debates, highlighting the balance between public health, innovation and economic development.

Beyond conferences and exhibitions, Spannabis Bilbao 2026 aims to offer a complete cultural experience. The event will feature three days of concerts.
