Rosin and vape pen now available for Dutch cannabis experimentation
L’dutch experiment with controlled cannabis has introduced two new product categories to its offering: the rosin and vape pen. Previously, users could buy weed, hashish, pre-rolled joints (pure or mixed with tobacco) and edibles.
The rosin, a solvent-free extract obtained by pressing and heating, was initially considered illegal under Dutch narcotics legislation.
However, as Jef Martens, Independent Business Consultant, explained to CannabisIndustrie.nl, «mechanical separation is permitted. Solvents used for chemical separation of parts are prohibited».
Rosin and’ice-o-lator are therefore officially part of the legal framework for experimentation, while the Marrakech butter or other solvent-based extractions remain prohibited.
New options for tobacco-free consumption
The introduction of vape pens containing rosin offers a new, more accessible option for Dutch consumers who want to using cannabis without tobacco. These pens contain a PG/VG blend (propylene glycol/vegetable glycerin), which enables the extract to reach a viscosity suitable for vaporization.
The Grass Company Spoorlaan, a coffee shop well-known to Tilburg, was one of the first to offer these products. Mauro Picavet, from CannabisIndustrie.nl was lucky enough to visit. The pen is sold at €44.50 per half-gram, while the live resin Banana Monkey was available at €24 per half-gram.
The pens are disposable, but buyers can return them to the store or to designated battery recycling points. This contrasts with recent Californian initiative to ban disposable vapes for environmental reasons.
Mauro found the pen practical, but tasteless, with a mix of different varieties rather than a single-origin extract. As for rosin, effective even if not premium quality.
Those interested in these new products can visit the coffee shops taking part in the experiment to discover them.
