From YouTube to Amsterdam: Drewissharing opens its coffeeshop
Even in a city with over 160 coffeeshops, a new name can still cause a stir, especially when it's already famous online.
Drewissharing, the famous cannabis YouTuber renowned for his laid-back tone, product testing and globe-trotting escapades, has taken things a step further: he's just opened his own coffeeshop in the heart of Amsterdam.
Located in the former premises of Mediterrané, a stone's throw from Singel, this new establishment is much more than a simple point of sale: it's a real destination, designed as a place to meet and exchange ideas. A unique way of extending its digital influence into the real world.
Who is Drewissharing?
For those unfamiliar with the cannabis scene on YouTube, Drewissharing has made a name for himself exploring cannabis cultures around the globe. His channel, which is approaching the million-subscriber mark, blends travel vlogs, strain tests, visits to iconic coffeeshops and candid discussions about cannabis consumption, legislation and lifestyle.
Drew's strength lies in his authenticity. No flashy staging, just a sincere passion for good flowers, good vibes and unfiltered opinions. Over the years, he has not only built up a loyal following, but also a genuine community of enthusiasts who recognize and share his high standards. It's this credibility, forged online, that today forms the basis of his entrepreneurial adventure in the real world.
From influencer to entrepreneur
Open a coffeeshop in Amsterdam is not as simple as signing a lease and filling jars. Drew spent over a year familiarizing himself with the city's planning laws and the scarcity of licenses for coffeeshops. But his reputation opened doors. Local growers and vendors, many of whom grew up watching his videos, were eager to contribute.
Drew remains very involved, overseeing the selection, designing the experience and even occasionally working the counter.
« The store's aim is to offer one of the best menus in town and, over the coming year, gradually increase the level of quality people expect for the price. »says Drew.
For now, when the coffeeshop has just opened, Drew is banking on a careful selection of attractive bags from the likes of TenCo and Wizard Trees, as well as a menu rooted in Dutch classics. Aware of expectations, he prefers to remain modest in his promises, letting the experience speak for itself. With success already in sight.
« The first few days were very busy, but since then the activity has increased almost daily. I've met so many lovely people. Many have flown in especially to come to the store for a day! It's very difficult to organize staff and stock from abroad when I live in Thailand. It's really more stressful not to be there every day, because if there's a problem, I can't go there personally and solve it immediately. You have to make a few phone calls. But these are growing pains and I'm sure everything will be fine in the coming months! »
His next plan? To open a boutique in Bangkok in the next few weeks.
« Over the next year, I'll be slowly linking the brands of the two boutiques into one very luxurious experience. So, whether you're in Bangkok or Amsterdam, you'll enjoy the same luxury service and products. It will take some time, however, for this vision to become reality.«
