Robin Thicke wants to turn his father's ranch into a cannabis plantation

Robin Thicke, the famous artist behind the hit song Blurred Lines, and his younger brother, Brennan, want to turn their father’s 27-hectare ranch—their father passed away last December—into a massive cannabis plantation. The ranch is located near Santa Barbara, California.

The only catch is that Tanya Callau, Robin Thicke’s mother-in-law and his father’s widow, is strongly opposed to the idea. In her view, growing cannabis on her late husband’s ranch would be a disgrace to their father, who would not have approved of his land being used to grow cannabis. The Thicke brothers, however, don’t see it that way and claim to be the sole beneficiaries of their father’s land.

Ms. Callau's attorney, Adam Steisand, revealed to the American magazine TMZ that the sons of the late actor fabricated false accusations from scratch to get rid of their stepmother simply because she opposes their plan to grow cannabis. According to the magazine, the assets left by Alain Thicke «are a bit unclear,» and a prenuptial agreement is said to have been drawn up.

Adam Steisand points out that Tanya Callau is entitled to 25% of Alan Walker’s estate, as well as the right to spend the rest of her days in her late husband’s home. The singer and his brother fired back, saying that their stepmother is nothing more than a «gold digger» who just wants to take advantage of their father’s inheritance. This accusation deeply hurt her, especially after seventeen years of marriage (including eleven years of marriage) between her and her late husband. This dispute over the estate has sparked a major rift between Robin, his brother Brennan, and their stepmother.

Robin Thicke couldn't have found a better opportunity to grow cannabis. In California, the state voted last November to legalize marijuana for recreational use. If he succeeds in acquiring his late father’s ranch, he could make significant strides in the U.S. cannabis industry.
