Ohio sells 76.2 million $ of cannabis in less than two months
Sales of adult-use cannabis in Ohio, a small state with nearly 12 million residents, have exceeded $76 million in 50 days, according to data from the Division of Cannabis Control (DCC), and 87 million over 60 days. The first month had seen sales of 44 million in Q1–Q4.
Since the Sales for adults begin in August, retailers in the state sold nearly 4 tons of «plant material» and 1,187,395 units of manufactured goods.
The average price of cannabis products continues to fall month over month, with the average cost per gram falling from $24.24 for a tenth of an ounce of flower (2.8 grams) during the first week of September to $23.74 during the second week. The average price per gram of flower fell from $8.57 Q4 to $8.39 Q4 during the same period, while the average price of processed products fell from $30.39 to $30.04.
The state currently has 124 dispensaries authorized to sell cannabis products for medical and non-medical purposes.
According to the Moritz College of Law According to Ohio State University, as of September 23, 111 municipalities and townships had adopted moratoriums prohibiting adult-use cannabis businesses from operating within their jurisdictions.
Most of these bans apply to communities with a population of 10,000 or fewer. Twenty-five are in communities with a population between 10,001 and 20,000, 27 in communities with a population of between 20,001 and 50,000, and six in communities with a population of 50,000 or more.
The state’s major cities are home to the largest number of adult dispensaries: Columbus has 13, Cincinnati has 10, Dayton has 6, and Cleveland has 5.
