Montreal welcomes 10 Cannabis Culture dispensaries
Cannabis Culture expands its catchment area in Quebec. The «Prince of Pot», Marc Emery expands massively in Montreal, opening 10 new cannabis dispensaries.
Jodie Emery, the brand's wife and co-manager, is headlining the inauguration of the dispensaries. However, the, the Emery couple will not own these new weed stores: «One of our investors has decided to open franchises in Montreal, and we are receiving requests from across Canada to open franchises in virtually every city».»
All customers aged 19 will be able to buy and consume recreational cannabis on site after showing ID.
Contrary to the law
The establishment of dispensaries does not really pose a problem. On the other hand, the sale of recreational cannabis and its consumption on the premises is much more disturbing. Even if the report on cannabis control was issued yesterday, the sale of recreational weed is still illegal. The Mayor of Montreal, Denis Coderre, points out that federal laws are still in force, and Montreal police say they will intervene at the slightest break-in.
In order to calm things down and to remain true to the pacifist line of the CannabisCulture brand, Jodie Emery says: «I hope they'll be progressive, tolerant and let our business operate as long as we do no harm. CannabisCulture dispensaries show a glimpse of legalization. They allow adults who have been persecuted for years to buy cannabis safely.
However, she makes it clear that police raids don't impress her: «The threat of arrest is part of civil disobedience. We publicly transgress the law to prove its injustice». Between the lines we can read «If you close our dispensaries, we'll reopen them the very next day».
Cannabis Culture now has 22 dispensaries across Canada. Here are the addresses of CannabisCulture dispensaries in Montreal:
