The Mode: the first intelligent vape pen
When you take a Doliprane, you know exactly whether you're swallowing a 500 or 1000mg tablet. But how do you know exactly what a drag is? That's the question The Mode intends to answer. The American company is unveiling a box, compatible with standard cartridges, capable of determining the dose of THC or CBD inhaled.
This new product is presented at the Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. In this great gathering of start-ups, the nuggets of tomorrow rub shoulders with gadgets that will never make it past the marketing phase.
As a matter of fact, The Mode vaporizer is not yet on the market. On the website, you can reserve it - for $100 - but it says : «Estimated dispatch: summer 2021. In other words, if The Mode receives enough orders, the product will be marketed. basta.
Between one and five milligrams
In concrete terms, the user needs to connect his THC cartridge (in countries where it's legal) or CBD on The Mode box. He then selects the desired dose. Between one and five milligrams. Then simply inhale. This precision - according to the company - is enabled by a high-definition sensor that defines the «potency» of the taffe. Then, an algorithm determines the amount inhaled according to the cartridge used. In the USA, in the sixteen states that have legalized cannabis, cartridges can be purchased from a dispensary.
In all, Thé Mode boasts an accuracy of 75 %. «You can select a dose of one milligram, and go about your day as usual.», says company co-founder Izzy Kirsch. Users can then track their consumption, and adapt it if necessary, on a daily basis via a mobile app. This tool could have a limited life, however, as Apple had eliminated all spray applications of its Apple Store.
This new tool is aimed at a rather affluent, rather young American audience, who smokes cannabis via a vaporizer. It is also aimed at those who use therapeutic cannabis, for anxiety or sleep disorders, for example. In France, it can be used with CBD cartridges
