Medisca takes steps to protect its innovative technologies
Medisca is taking steps to protect its innovative technologies. Medisca is suing Fagron, HiperScan, and Gako for patent infringement.
MONTREAL–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Thanks to decades of investment in strategic research and development, the Medisca name has become synonymous with innovative, customer-focused technologies. In the field of mixing, for example, Medisca provides tailored solutions through an unwavering commitment to quality and innovation. This includes the Medisca MAZ mixer™, an industry leader, offers mixing technology that the company has pioneered through years of research and testing. Medisca’s MAZ mixer provides an efficient, consistent, and high-quality solution for mixing hundreds of formulations.
To ensure that Medisca can continue to offer the innovative solutions the industry wants and needs, the company supplements its investments in research and development with a robust intellectual property portfolio. This includes patents in the United States, Europe, Canada, and Australia. For years, Medisca has taken steps to inform the industry about its patent portfolio, including its patents related to the new Medisca MAX mixer. Unfortunately, a small number of companies have decided to offer products that infringe on Medisca’s intellectual property.
In order to protect its valuable rights and ensure that these companies engage in fair competition, Medisca intends to safeguard its patented technologies against infringing activities by its competitors. These comprehensive enforcement efforts began today with Medisca filing complaints against Fagron B.V., HiperScan GmbH, and Gako Deutschland GmbH for infringement of patent No. 3,538,071, owned by Medisca’s German counterpart. The complaint was filed with the Munich Local Court in Germany and includes a request for a preliminary injunction and monetary damages.
«With great respect for innovation and our responsibility to protect our intellectual property, we feel compelled to take legal action in response to this patent infringement,» said Panagiota Danopoulos, SVP of Global Strategy and Innovation at Medisca. «We believe in a fair and competitive market where innovation thrives. This legal action underscores our commitment to upholding these principles and defending our innovation efforts.».
Medisca hopes that today’s filing of the complaint will remind all of its competitors of the importance of respecting the company’s intellectual property. The blending industry (e.g., pharmaceuticals and CBD) has increasingly relied on the quality and efficiency of Medisca’s MAZ blender. The industry must be able to continue to rely on these products and Medisca’s unique customer service, as well as its solution-oriented innovations.
