Final stage in the commissioning of Panda High Plains Hemp Gin, the largest industrial hemp processing facility in the Western Hemisphere.
DALLAS–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Panda Biotech announced today that construction of its facilities is now complete and that the official commissioning process for its Panda High Plains Hemp Gin™ («Panda Hemp Gin») project began at the start of the fourth quarter. This commissioning process marks the final step before the start of commercial operations, which is scheduled for the first quarter of 2024 at the 500,000-square-foot facility in Wichita Falls, Texas. The Panda Hemp Gin facility will process ten metric tons of industrial hemp per hour to produce textile-grade fiber, shives, a blend of short-fiber shives, and a nutrient-rich byproduct that will be processed into pellets. The facility is expected to be the largest hemp ginning center in the Western Hemisphere and one of the largest in the world.
«Every component of the Panda Hemp Gin production line—including the three miles of overhead pneumatic piping, refining, blending, mechanical cottoning, bagging and storage of the windrow, baling, and more, must be started up, checked, balanced, and commissioned individually,» said Scott Evans, executive vice president of Panda Biotech. «Currently, all equipment is brought onto the line individually before being officially commissioned.»
Using only renewable energy sources, Panda Hemp Gin’s engineering and production process has been certified as environmentally friendly by the Mid-South Engineering Company, in accordance with the principles applicable to green bonds established by the International Capital Market Association. Panda Biotech has also partnered with Oritain, a scientific traceability company, to bring to market the most traceable hemp grown 100 % in the United States.
In addition, Panda Biotech is actively signing contracts with growers to cultivate hemp for the 2024 growing season and is purchasing hemp fiber that has already been harvested or processed. The company recently unveiled an unparalleled crop-based payment program for growers who wish to begin growing Panda hemp. As a sign of Panda’s commitment and promise to the farming community, Panda growers also receive tested and proven seeds at no cost, which mitigates the risk they may face. Hemp cultivation offers significant benefits, as it is an excellent rotation crop that improves soil health and provides a competitive profit margin.
