Legalize, the citizens' list that wants to smoke the European elections
The Legalize list is a group of citizens committed to a more inclusive and sustainable Europe, whose primary goal is to regulate cannabis at the European level. To be validated by April 30 (yes, that’s tomorrow!), it must gather 79 candidates. To date, only 39 applications have been approved.
Since “impossible” isn’t in the French language, you can learn more about their initiative on their website.
Safia Lebdi tops the list
Safia Lebdi, one of the movement's founders Femen and Ni Putes Ni Soumises is at the top of the Legalize list.
«All over the world—in Europe and America, from Uruguay to Canada—the time has come for reform. Instead of stifling and suppressing it, we must encourage this new economy—ecological and beneficial—for our children, for the planet, and for our future.»
On April 20, she launched the «Women and Cannabis» movement with Mishka and several prominent figures from the reform movement.
Farid Ghehiouèche, for his part, has announced his candidacy. Farid is no stranger to the cannabis scene in France: he has founded various cannabis-related associations and projects, and organizes the annual World Cannabis March, now known as the Cannaparade and had worn size 420 last year Place de la République.
The program
The list’s primary goal is to run in the election, not to win votes. It aims to demonstrate that citizens are capable of engaging in public debate. The list will focus on three main issues: cannabis regulation, the promotion of gender equality, and the advancement of a sustainable society.
