Can cannabis help treat diabetes?
Some research suggests that the Cannabis can be used to treat diabetes. The latest showed that cannabis reduced diabetes-related neuropathic pain, even when it was resistant to standard treatment.
16 patients with painful diabetes were prescribed cannabis inhalations at different doses, as well as a placebo. The higher the THC was strong (7% maximum), the less pain the patient felt. Patients also showed a «decrease in performance». In other words, they were high.
The research on this project are not yet over. In particular, we can imagine that with the development of genetic tests, the scientists will focus on patients' genetic capital to target people predisposed to diabetes and hinder its development.
L’cannabis use has already shown great promise in the treatment of insulin resistance, which, if undetected, can lead to pre-diabetes or type 2 diabetes, a lifelong condition. The American Journal of Medicine also reported on’a study in 2013 showing that cannabis smokers were less insulin-resistant and had slimmer waists, in addition to better cholesterol levels, and therefore lower cardiovascular risks. It now appears that treat diabetes-related pain, and help prevent it.
