Birth of GQC: the first startup, federated by PQE Group, to support medical cannabis
PARMA, Italy–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The world’s first startup to support pharmaceutical companies in every aspect of the development and distribution of medical cannabis is Italian. It is called GQC – Glocal Quality Cannabis, it is one of the member companies of PQE Group, an international life sciences consulting giant with nearly 25 years of experience that supports large companies through all phases of the drug development lifecycle, from molecular discovery to distribution.
Engineering, GxP quality compliance, regulatory affairs, medical and scientific consulting, clinical trials, and a GQC Academy: these are the key services that GQC will provide to its clients, drawing on the in-depth expertise that PQE Group has acquired over more than two decades.
« This project is a challenge that is very important to me. I am convinced of the therapeutic power of cannabis in the medical field«, says Gilda D’Incerti, CEO of PQE Group and founder and chairman of GQC. «I wanted to support research, as well as the development and distribution of medical cannabis, through the creation of this new startup. I personally selected the talented individuals who make up the new GQC team: chemists, pharmacists, physicists, and biologists who manage the entire supply chain.”. »
However, the market is still grappling with fragmented and sometimes opaque national legislation. This is precisely where GQC’s innovative proposal comes in: it will apply the strictest international standards at the local level to ensure effectiveness, safety, and quality for patients.
«I believe that medical cannabis should be treated the same way as other pharmaceutical products. Our goal is to support the development of new therapies through effective data quality management by accelerating the approval of cannabis-based products and reducing delays in the supply chain to ensure faster access for patients,», Riccardo Salvagnini, Executive Vice President of GQC, during the startup's launch ceremony. « As such, we aim to provide cutting-edge technological solutions for medical cannabis products to accelerate our go-to-market strategy through a local approach and a global vision. Our high-quality services support every process and technology to help navigate global regulations and provide faster, more efficient access to medications. All too often, » concludes Salvagnini, « Patients are having difficulty finding these medications due to a shortage of raw materials, which undermines their right to access health care. »
