The Isle of Man prepares to welcome its first Cannabis Café
L‘the Isle of Man is about to see the opening of The Green Lounge CSC, an educational and community center for patients who use medical marijuana.
The venue describes itself as «a community resource” on the Isle of Man, »providing education, support, and advocacy for patients who use medical cannabis,« with the goal of »promoting safe and informed access” for those who rely on cannabis for therapeutic purposes.
The concept combines a creative social environment with programs focused on well-being, all within an alcohol-free setting designed to reduce stigma and foster social connections.
Announced publicly on social media, this initiative was patiently developed over the course of several years. Its founders explained the long journey that led to this launch: «The time has finally come… Years of preparation, countless sleepless nights, hands covered in paint, and a deep conviction that we could build something different.»
For them, this project has always been much more than just creating a space. «The Green Lounge was never just an idea—it was a mission: to create a safe, welcoming, and forward-thinking space where adults can meet, relax, and be part of a real community.»
A new community space dedicated to advocating for patients
The CSC Green Lounge will operate as a private space offering responsibly managed alcohol service through a «drinking pass system» that will soon be implemented. According to the team, the goal is to offer adults legally permitted to use cannabis a safe environment free from stigma.
«It’s about independence, authenticity, and inclusion. A space that belongs to all of us who have always wanted a place where we can be ourselves, without stigma,» explain the founders.
The café was co-founded by Maria and Daisy-May, which describe the a project unlike any other on the island. «This has never been done here before,» said Maria, highlighting the determination that fueled the initiative. «We’ve worked tirelessly to create something that challenges the norm and offers adults a space where they can relax, create, and connect responsibly in an alcohol-free environment.»
For Daisy-May, the mission has always been rooted in the community’s needs. «From the very beginning, we wanted The Green Lounge to be a home for an inclusive community,» she explains. «It’s a safe space that we needed just as much as the other patients and caregivers. Stigma must end so that education and compassion can flourish.»
Beyond its primary function, the venue will offer a wide range of activities: non-alcoholic beverages, creative workshops, wellness-related events, and collaborations with local artists and educators. This multifaceted approach places the project at the intersection of health, culture, and community development.
Breathing New Life into Ramsey's Cultural Landscape
Located in an iconic building in the city of Ramsey, The Green Lounge CSC also aims to contribute to local revitalization by supporting community employment and partnering with local creatives.
Maria summed up this vision clearly: «It’s about driving change, not following trends. We’re building something positive, responsible, and rooted in the island’s culture.»
The café is expected to open sometime this year, and further announcements will be made on its official website and its social media accounts.
