Medical cannabis in the UK
Legislation is currently being proposed to legalize medical cannabis. Recently, two cases involving children with epilepsy rocked the British media landscape. The authorities, who had seized cannabis medicines from children who were in vital need of them had to bow to popular pressure and return products.
Damian «Junior Gong» testifies to the rapid advance of the situation and opinion in the UK: «What's interesting is the speed at which things are moving here (...) when I came here last summer, there wasn't the same dynamism. It's wonderful how people are listening more and more to the reality of the benefits of cannabis».
He also insists on the difference between those who consume out of necessity and those who consume for pleasure. He obviously supports the right to have fun by consuming recreationally, but for him it's vital to make a difference: «Testimonies show that it has nothing to do with getting high or doing it for fun, but that cannabis is real medicine that changes lives».
Damian cites the case of parents who administer cannabis to their children in order to treat them: «These families aren't trying to get their kids stoned or make them into potheads [They try to help them by giving them cannabis without the psychedelic effects.] They try to help them by administering cannabis with no psychedelic effect.»
