«Acces-aux-soins.fr»: contact your MP to mobilize on medical cannabis
The « Access to Care.fr » is a citizen-led initiative that aims to raise awareness among members of Parliament about the need to legalize medical cannabis in France.
With growing evidence of cannabis’s effectiveness in treating a range of medical conditions, this campaign aims to inform and engage lawmakers on the urgent need to adopt progressive reforms that could improve the well-being of approximately 300,000 patients nationwide in the medium term, while the The government dropped the issue in its Social Security Financing Bill despite his promises.
To raise awareness among French lawmakers about the urgency of legalizing medical cannabis
« Access to Care.fr »is simply a tool designed to make it easy to contact members of parliament and raise their awareness of a more compassionate, evidence-based approach to medical cannabis in France.".
This initiative was launched independently by Damien Visconte, who is otherwise known for his "Let's Talk Canna" podcasts. He envisioned it as «a tool to connect people who need to be heard—patients and doctors—with decision-makers,» without it being affiliated with any particular association, company, or union.
«It’s then up to each person to take action and rally their representatives, if they choose to,» Damien explains. «The initiative stands for nothing more than common sense and justice, to ensure that people stop suffering and have access to the right medication.»
The process is simple and consists of three steps: you can contact a specific government agency, raise awareness among local elected officials, and then publicize this collective action on social media.
The goal is obviously not to spam lawmakers but to provide them with real-life testimonials and genuine support. Lawmakers still have the opportunity to include the widespread use of medical cannabis in the Social Security Financing Bill through amendments, a process that would be made easier by real-life testimonials from people who are already benefiting—or who could benefit—from the therapeutic benefits of cannabis.
