Medical cannabis is not legal in France, but a prescription trial is due to begin in 2020. The terms of the medical cannabis experiment are known and fairly restricted: it will concern only 3,000 people, with defined pathologies (neuropathic pain, epilepsy, supportive care in oncology, palliative situations or painful spasticity) and in predefined CBD:THC ratios.
The experiment was passed in October 2019 by the National Assembly and included in the 2020 Finance Act. Although it was expected to start at the end of 2019, it is not scheduled to begin before September 2020.
