Colgate launches CBD toothpaste and mouthwash range

Oral care giant Colgate Palmolive joins the ranks of major U.S. companies venturing into hemp and CBD. The conglomerate is, in fact, to announce the acquisition of Hello Products, a New Jersey-based oral care brand that recently launched its line of CBD products.

Hello Products offers a line of three toothpastes, two mouthwashes, and one CBD-infused lip balm in more than 1,000 Ulta Beauty stores across the United States—the U.S. equivalent of Sephora. Hello products are also available at more than 44,000 retail locations across the United States.

All products contain broad-spectrum hemp oil and hemp extract grown by U.S. farms under the Farm Bill of 2018.

Other major U.S. food and cosmetics companies have also taken the plunge into CBD. AriZona Tea announced that it is developing a line of CBD- and THC-infused beverages; the company behind the cookies Oreo wants to make CBD cookies, and major American and Canadian retailers like Walmart are opening their doors wide to CBD products.

In January, the Consumer Brands Association, a group of food industry giants such as Coca-Cola, The Hershey Company, Kellogg’s, Nestlé, Del Monte, Kraft, and PepsiCo announced the creation of a CBD advisory board to provide strategic input on the CBD’s approach to the food industry. The board members include a former director of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Karen Tandy, and a former Monsanto executive, Michael Taylor, who later joined the FDA. No members of the U.S. hemp or marijuana industries serve on the board of directors.
