Popeye

The coffeeshop Popeye is located 5 minutes from Amsterdam station. A small local coffee shop, it welcomes you in a very friendly atmosphere. chill. The bar serves good coffee and decent breakfasts.

The upstairs offers an Internet connection, while the first floor can seat around ten people. The owner is a friendly old hippie, who regularly offers guests the chance to shoot his « peace pipe« a reference to the Popeye character from which this coffeeshop takes its name. Rest assured, it's all weed inside!

Don't expect the atmosphere of the big coffeeshops, here it's almost like a family. The music and rhythm are just like the owner: relaxed. If you like places that are out of the ordinary, or out of what you'll find elsewhere in Amsterdam, then this coffee shop should appeal to you.

The menu features mainly Kush, Haze and Cheese, as well as Moroccan hash.

We recommend you try Pink Kush or Vanilla Kush, and Blue Cheese, one of Amsterdam's best. Prices are still fairly reasonable, except perhaps for Pink Kush (€18 a gram), which is a slap in the face even for regular smokers. If you've never tried Bubble Gum, this is also the place to go.

The potency of hashish evolves with prices ranging from €9 to €18 a gram.

As with many coffees, you can buy by the 5g and benefit from a discount on the overall price.

Some space brownies and pre-rolled joints are also available.

Why do people like Popeye's? Mainly because it's a great place to have a good time, without the craziness but without the fuss 🙂
