In fact, it was quite easy to get hold of cannabis, especially hash from Africa (Morocco or Lebanon) and weed, not necessarily of the highest quality.
The recreational cannabis legalized in late 2021, Malta became the first European country to end cannabis prohibition. Initially, the country adopted a non-commercial model. Only self-production and Cannabis Social Clubs are authorized. By the end of 2022, however, no Cannabis Social Club licenses had been issued.
The Medical cannabis has been legal in Malta since 2017. The country welcomes with open arms companies wishing to produce medical cannabis on the island, with generous tax policies.
