Canopy Growth doubles production capacity and acquires Czech company
Canopy Growth continues its aggressive expansion, both at home and abroad.
In order to meet the demand for medical cannabis and the Cannabis legalization this summer in Canada, Canopy Growth doubles its capacity production by opening two new greenhouses, to reach 22 hectares of cultivation, almost half of its 56-hectare target.
Canopy Growth has also announced the acquisition of Czech company Annabis Medical, which specializes in the import and distribution of cannabis products to pharmacies. Some people are already familiar with the creams and dietary supplements available in CBD shops in France. Through Annabis, Canopy plans to distribute its Spectrum brand of medical cannabis.
Medical cannabis has been legal in the Czech Republic since 2013. The law authorizes monthly prescriptions of 180 grams of cannabis by specialized doctors and for conditions such as chronic pain, glaucoma or dermatitis. Medical cannabis is available in pharmacies.
