Cannabis and technology: VR in dispensaries?
The Cannabis has grown exponentially over time and goes hand in hand with technology, which is also advancing at a rapid pace. If we combine the two, what do we get?
The state of California, known as the Golden State, is home to the largest technology hub of the century in Silicon Valley, but it also has the oldest medical cannabis market in the United States.
Augmented Reality Cannabis Dispensaries
Virtual reality (VR) is booming. This computer technology simulates real-world actions and objects by integrating them into virtual software. In the United States, a virtual reality app dedicated to cannabis could be launched, according to an article published in the American magazine High Times.
The Canndescent app (via Weedmaps) has begun testing the concept in a beta version. Specifically, when a customer unlocks their smartphone and activates the front-facing camera upon entering a cannabis dispensary, the app will be able to identify the cannabis strains available in the store. An information sheet about the strain will appear, designed to inform the consumer as quickly and effectively as possible. The app will be able to track the strains and the cannabis seeds that the consumer has had a chance to try.
It will be available at various dispensaries and for various strains, with the aim of making the cannabis experience richer and more unique. The smartphone will be able to identify the strain’s name, its properties (euphoria, relaxation, etc.), and its cannabinoid levels (THC, CBD, etc.). The process also works with «edibles»: the app will be able to inform the user about the ingredients used and the cannabinoid content.
The goal of this augmented reality app is to enhance the consumer’s cannabis experience while providing important information when purchasing cannabis. The app will be updated regularly to include new strains that are constantly emerging in the cannabis industry.
For now, these are just predictions, but they are very likely to come true.
