In Berlin, an edible subway ticket tastes like hemp
In a humorous video, Berlin's public transport system offers a magic remedy for Christmas stress: hemp. The five million inhabitants of the German conurbation have until this Friday to buy an edible ticket flavored with hemp oil, the Hanfticket («hemp ticket»). According to BVG, «Christmas in Berlin means one thing above all: stress.
But all those bad memories are history, thanks to this new ticket. « L‘oil obtained from the seeds of the cannabis plant would have an effectand soothing. No THC, no CBD. Sorry for the tourists who go to the Berghain!», the company apologizes, referring to this techno club where ecstasy is more readily available than fruit juice.
Users of the metro, streetcar and bus - sorry, it's been renamed «cannabus» - will be able to buy this ticket for 8.80 euros... and then eat it once it's no longer valid. An excellent way to «swallowing your anger» related to the stress of Christmas, the presents, the tree, and the idea of having to argue for 3 hours with the cousin you hate.
Behind the humor, we think we can detect the signature of the BVG's new head: Eva Kreienkamp. This former Allianz insurer is an outspoken progressive. Lesbian and feminist, she has launched several associations to ensure that LGBT people have a greater place in the workplace.
Pedagogy on the use of hemp
But beyond the humor and the offbeat tone, this operation by the transport company is also an excellent way to educate Berliners so that they can differentiate between the different varieties of cannabis: « Hemp certainly looks like something you can buy on the street in Neukölln. and Kreuzberg», notes the public company. These two formerly working-class neighborhoods, where the immigrant population has settled, have become hotbeds of bobo culture.
«But oil from hemp, continues the company, extracted cannabis plant seeds is totally harmless to health, This is in contrast to the active ingredients CBD and THC, which are extracted from the flowers. In principle, hemp oil is just as harmless as sunflower, pumpkin seed or olive oil.»
These clarifications will come in handy for the Germans. The future socialist-ecologist-liberal coalition in power government plans to legalize cannabis. «We will introduce controlled distribution of cannabis to adults for recreational purposes in licensed stores.», says the coalition agreement, which forms the roadmap for Chancellor Olaf Schölz's new government.
