Tony Greenhand, the joint rolling artist

Tony Greenhand practices a new art form: all of his creations are made from joints he rolls himself. Across the Atlantic, his art even has a name: the smokable art (smokable art). And he can be paid up to 7,000€ for a «joint.».

At 26 years old, this former cannabis grower took advantage of legalization in Oregon to diversify his business. Tony Greenhand is now paid to create artworks made from weed. A bit of a perfectionist, he keeps trying until the shape perfectly matches the real object. And it seems to be working. Tony is now contacted directly by dispensaries, which commission all kinds of pieces from him and supply him with the necessary materials. Or by private individuals. A wealthy pro-gun advocate from Florida recently asked him for a small stash of joint-style guns. In exchange for the pistols and a 250-gram smokable AK-47, Tony Greenhand was paid $7,000.

The artist wants to keep his feet on the ground despite his recent success. In fact, the appearance of one of his AK-47 A post on Rick Ross's Instagram account catapulted him into the spotlight. «I’m enjoying it, but I’m not losing face.».

His creations, all of which are consumable, are shared on social media and entertain the American cannabis community. A journalist from Colorado compares him to other avant-garde artists: «Monet had Impressionism; Tony has the art of rolling a joint.».

The manufacturing process also has its share of failures. His early creations weren’t stable or would fall apart. One of his friends recalls: «He could spend an entire weekend on one of his creations, only to end up rolling a good old-fashioned joint.» Nowadays, his little creations take him less than an hour. The AK-47 shown above still took him almost a week, though.

His art has even caught the attention of some of the biggest names in the cannabis industry. Tommy Chong He demanded his own rolled joint, and rappers like B.O.B., Flatbush Zombie, and B-Real have also asked him for their own custom creations, which only adds to the hype surrounding Tony Greenhand. He has also recently registered his trademark. Tony can now provide the cannabis needed for these creations and mail them out for a small additional fee.

On his first date with his girlfriend, Tony Greenhand gave her a rose-shaped joint. A remarkably effective gift when trying to win over a photographer who specializes in cannabis. His challenge for the years ahead is to create works that contain even more weed. Sculptures by the kilo—and always smokable.
