Tilray consolidates its presence in Italy with the launch of Tilray Medical Italia

Tilray has officially announced the launch of Tilray Medical Italia, the new name of the entity previously known as FL Group. With this name change, the group is also strengthening its presence in the Italian market, where medical cannabis is prescribed by doctors and distributed exclusively through hospitals and pharmacies.

According to Rajnish Ohri, international president of Tilray Brands, «Italy remains a strategically important market for Tilray Medical as we continue to build a leading, regulated medical cannabis platform in Europe.».

He also notes that the launch of Tilray Medical Italia enables the company to align its local operations with the group’s medical brand and to strengthen its commitment to patients, physicians, and health authorities through products that are approved and comply with regulatory requirements.

Operating within the Italian regulatory framework for medical cannabis

The new organization is therefore already operating within the framework of the Italian system of medical marijuana. Its products are approved by the Italian Ministry of Health and distributed exclusively through hospitals and pharmacies. To date, the company distributes the following pharmaceutical products :

Its operations in Italy are supported by the European infrastructure of Tilray, (cultivation and production) which enables the group to meet the standards EU-GMP.

A Partnership with Molteni Farmaceutici

Collaboration with Molteni Farmaceutici, an Italian pharmaceutical company that is already integrated into hospital, medical, and pharmaceutical networks, is at the heart of Tilray’s Italian strategy. This partnership, initially announced in 2025 when the entity was still operating under the name FL Group, focuses on both distribution and medical education.

Molteni plays a key role in the support for physician training and prescribing, particularly in areas such as pain management and substance use disorders.

The company operates in more than 20 countries that have established medical cannabis programs, including the’Germany, the Portugal, the Poland and the United Kingdom.
