Snoop Dogg to sell his weed in Canada
Canadians will have to wait a little longer before tasting the fruits of the partnership between Tweed, Canada's largest medical cannabis producer, based in Ontario, and Snoop Dogg.
Tweed announced last February that they were working with the star to produce a selection from the weed Leafs (Snoop's brand) for Canadian consumers.
The company has recently announced that the first 3 strains to arrive on the Canadian market will be Sunset, Ocean View and Palm Tree CBD. These 3 weed varieties will be available to medical patients at the end of the month, and as soon as the Canada will have legalized cannabis for the others, an announcement expected in spring 2017.
Tweed hopes to expand its offering over time, with the addition of strains high in CBD, and a more complete range of THC-oriented strains.
«Like hip-hop, cannabis is as much a lifestyle as it is a culture,» Snoop Dogg said in the Tweed press release. «Leafs by Snoop is an expression of my experience with this culture over several decades. What started for me in the 90s in California now exists in places like Colorado, where real progress is being made. Now that Leafs by Snoop will be working with Tweed, I'll be able to share my passion for the best cannabis on the planet with Canada.»
Tweed president Mark Zekulin said in the release that «at this point in his career, Snoop is much more than an artist, singer or entrepreneur. He's also one of the most listened-to voices on cannabis in the world. With this partnership, we welcome an icon of cannabis culture to the Canadian industry, and a true partner to the Tweed team».
Tweed will celebrate the Canadian launch of Leafs by Snoop in Toronto on October 27. Snoop is expected to be present at the event, which promises to be smoky - sorry, famous!
