Ex-Apple engineer launches his »Grow Box»
Growing cannabis indoors and out takes time, care and precision. For optimum yield, factors such as photoperiod, temperature and watering are essential. Andrew Pletenetskyy, a former Apple engineer, offers his «Grow Box», which can be controlled from your smartphone.
The Grow-Box«
The «Grow-box», at 1m80 tall, looks like a translucent fridge. Like most grow tents, the Grow Box takes up space. However, it has the advantage of being transparent, unlike Leaf's product, a similar but opaque device. As a result, the grower can see his baby evolve day after day in his living room.
Via the settings on the smartphone app, the budding gardener can decide on watering periods, nutrient inputs, heat, light exposure time (despite the transparent glass?) and humidity levels in the box. Humidity levels can range from that of the room, to 95 %, and heat can be controlled down to the degree, up to 40°C.
The Grow box is equipped with LED lighting. In the end, these factors will influence the plant's cannabinoids of the cannabis plant. The tests carried out revealed that Blue Haze grown in this Grow-Box contained a low level of THC, but was still very tasty for the consumer. As the product had only just been launched, this is the only testimonial we have.
Energy-saving and... air-purifying
Andrew Pletenetskyy's trademark, 7sensors, He emphasizes the product's practicality. According to him, his Grow-Box needs to be refilled with water every 2 to 3 months and consumes very little energy. He explains that his device costs around €5 per month in electricity. The brand also stresses the benefits of CO2 absorption and oxygenation of the room in which the fridge is stored!
No more good news. The stylish and intelligent (but really effective?) concept requires substantial financing. The 7sensors brand is therefore applying via the crowdfunding nearly $250,000. Large donors will be entitled to their own Grow Box. The first customers will be asked to donate 999$, or just over 900 €. And they can count themselves lucky. Self-growers who buy it in stores in 2017 will have to fork out more than 1,500 euros. A little expensive to purify the air in the living room.
Let's remain optimistic: in the event of seed failure, you'll be able to grow your own tomato plants.
