Ross Hudson: professional cannabis consultant
Russ Hudson is a professional cannabis consultant, which means he gets paid to test different strains of weed and write detailed reviews of their effects.
Russ is American but now lives in Barcelona, where there are many cannabis clubs and the weed is of good quality. He naturally chose Spain—and Barcelona in particular—because of its legislation, which authorizes cannabis clubs to grow and distribute the crop to club members. After visiting his first cannabis club, he realized that he «had inadvertently stumbled into what could be a professional and personal paradise,» and that he could get paid to smoke weed.
In this Vice News video, Hudson describes his meticulous testing process, which also involves examining how his body reacts to weed after a certain number of joints and seeing how long the effects last.
It would seem that Hudson's job has also made him an expert at acting completely normal in situations where the average consumer would start to feel a little too overwhelmed to keep a straight face.
And he's testing what appears to be some very potent weed. One of the latest reviews of Russ Hudson on the Thin Mint Girl Scout Cookies notes that it would leave a « stoner a »laid-back" veteran for 2 or 3 hours.
His typical day begins with a little work at home, followed by a visit to one of Barcelona’s many cannabis clubs. His mission is then to buy a strain, try it, and post a review. on its website. Each sample is evaluated based on 5 criteria:
- the look and texture
- the smell and aroma
- power
- the effect (more of a cerebral high, a physical high, etc.)
- the duration of the effect
One of his favorite strains—when he isn't «forced» to try others—is Super Lemon Haze. And to think we thought we had a cool job!
