Cookies products soon available in the UK

Mamedica, a clinic for medical marijuana of the United Kingdom, and Cookies, the cannabis brand founded by rapper and entrepreneur Berner, have announced their partnership to make the latter's products available to British patients.

These products, known for their powerful genetics and high terpene profiles are supplied by SOMAÍ Group, a Portugal-based company that has bought out Akanda's assets.

«This partnership with Cookies marks the start of a new era for UK patients using cannabis for medical purposes,» said Jon Robson, CEO and founder of Mamedica.

Bringing a global cannabis brand to British patients

The first product available from this collaboration is the Hawaiian Rain, a highly potent flower containing 31 % of THC, currently priced at £11 a gram. According to Leafie, this makes it the most expensive cannabis flower available on prescription in the UK at the time of its launch. It is available through private clinics and partner pharmacies, where patients can request the product through legal channels.

The UK's medical cannabis sector is growing fast since its legalization in 2018. It is estimated that 80,000 the number of patients who now receive prescription cannabis-based medicines (CBPM) as an alternative to conventional treatments. Mamedica alone saw an increase of 1,250 % of patients in 2023, followed by an increase of 154 % in 2024.

According to Mamedica's research, a third of British residents would like to have access to medical cannabis, but close to 18 million people still consider current legislation to be too restrictive. By teaming up with a well-known brand like Cookies, Mamedica aims to change both policy and public perception.

All Cookies products available in the UK are grown and processed to the highest standards. EU-GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and GACP (Good Agricultural and Collection Practice).
