This couple's wedding included 8000$ of cannabis
One of the unexpected trends of cannabis legalization in the U.S. has been the emergence of cannabis wedings, These are weddings which, in addition to a liquor bar, also offer a cannabis bar.
The phenomenon has probably emerged in Oregon, But all it has done is bring to light a practice that has existed for as long as cannabis has been around.
One couple, however, went big in terms of cannabistic presence. Dani Geen and Zak Walton distributed 8000$ of cannabis at their wedding last August. This was made easier by Dani Geen's job: she assists Steve D'Angelo at his Harborside dispensary, the largest in the United States. She is also a fervent cannabis campaigner and has become an expert in cannabis concentrates.
Dani, 31, and her husband Zak, 30, are also medical cannabis users. Dani suffers from fibromyalgia and thyroiditis, and Zak struggles with a herniated disc that causes him severe pain.
While jars of weed were of course present during the festivities, the couple also used cannabis in more original ways. The bridesmaids wore cannabis buds in their buttonholes, while the groomsmen sported cannabis leaves. A dab bar was set up outside, as was a bar of’edibles. Guests also received a goodie bag with cannabic gifts.
«The secret is that cannabis is probably part of the majority of marriages in the U.S. whether the family knows it or not,» explained Steve D'Angelo to Forbes. «It was consumed discreetly and privately. Now it's coming out of the shadows and into the open.»
Guests who didn't want to ingest cannabis were of course taken into account and offered alcohol and non-infused food.
«My vision became reality,» Dani confided after her wedding. «It was a rich, smooth day. If I hadn't had cannabis, I would have been more stressed, but because I did, I was able to be more creative and enjoy the experience. And now people are asking me to help them organize their cannabis weddings. »
